American Poster Institute and SXSW present:
FLATSTOCK 92
March 13 -15, 2024
Austin Convention Center
500 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78701
Flatstock 92 is an art exhibition showcasing new and emerging talent to the world’s the most influential and exceptional poster artists, featuring handmade, limited-edition posters from artists around the globe. The show features an incredible range of visual styles, techniques and colors for sale by the talented artists who created them.

Who should apply?
Individual artists, studios and collectives. Flaststock strives to connect artists directly to their fans, collectors and clients. For that reason, we do not allow dealers, representatives  or other third party entities.

What can be sold?
Historically, Flatstock was dedicated to gig posters. This year we are expanding to allow a larger spectrum of poster art including, but not limited to, film, politics, comedy, theatre, tourism, fine art and more.

The focus of each booth should be poster art. While other studio related items like books, tshirt and decals are permitted, they should not compete or overshadow poster work.

Other Requirements:
All work must be official in some capacity (i.e.; in the case of gig posters - contracted by the band, the promoter or the venue). Works based on unlicensed intellectual property work and fan art are strictly forbidden.

All work should be limited edition (typically edition up to 200) and priority will be given to artists that use traditional techniques like screenprinting, letterpress, block printing and other means that involve the "hand of the artist."

Artists are required to exhibit at all three days of Flatstock.

Additional Info:
You will be notified within 7 days of application if you are approved for Flatstock. SXSW will invoice you for your booth and your payment and signed contract must be returned  to confirm your inclusion in Flatstock 92.

March 2 & 3, 2024 12-6 (times subject to change)
Social Hall SF - https://www.socialhallsf.com
1270 Sutter St. San Francisco, CA 94107

28 10x10' spaces are available. Registration does NOT guarantee you a place. Due to the limited space available, we will be curating the lineup.

We will notify accepted artists on Nov. 7, 2023 and remaining artist will be placed on a wait list.

Booth cost is TBD pending sponsorship contributions but will be in the range of $500 - $750. Invoices will be sent once we lock-in sponsors. Each booth will include 10'x10' pipe frame, table and chairs.

Additionally, we will ask each artist to forward two posters to be included in a month-long exhibition at the Noise Pop offices during the month of February for a gallery show and to promote Flatstock. Unsold posters will be returned to the artist. If accepted you will get instructions on where to send prints.

Lastly, we are working with the festival to create individual show posters for the festival bands. It will, of course, require band approval but we're hoping to get the Noise Pop Poster series going again!

About the Noise Pop Festival:
From its humble beginnings—one night, 5 bands at the Kennel Club (now the Independent)—to the present: one week, 160+ bands, 80+ events, 25+ venues—the Noise Pop Music & Arts Festival has become a San Francisco staple.

Featuring non-stop music from electronic to jazz to good ol’ rock n’ roll, the festival offers an opportunity for everyone and anyone to enjoy the celebration. Complemented by art shows, film scores, talks, happy hours, after hours and more, Noise Pop truly champions independent culture.

First wave announcement for Noise Pop will be Nov 7, 2023!

Thanks,

Tuffy and the API
